Life update post!

My mental health has been something less than stellar, but good things have been happening. I’ve got a new apartment, first and foremost – one I can afford, with laundry in the unit. I’ve been assembling furniture, buying up necessities I didn’t have packed, and revelling in the amount of storage space I just have. It’s wild.

The downside – because there always has to be a catch – is that the neighbours don’t like us. We’re a bit too queer for their tastes. Nevertheless, I’m determined to be nice and avoid giving them reasons to be hostile.

The hardest part about being here, though, is the arrangement with my kid. She’s not with me yet, and won’t be coming home with me until everyone in the family is vaccinated. It’s a sensible move, but I’ve been fighting my depression with minimal success without her.

Even though I’ve been sleeping more and eating less, I’ve managed to be fairly productive. When I’m not unpacking things, I’m editing. I also started writing a new fantasy book, so if that’s your thing, be on the lookout – I might post some first-draft snippets soon!

Not a long post today, but I hope everyone out there is having an easier time bringing themselves to the bright side.
