So Many Things; June 5 2023

I’m getting close to finishing the first draft of Trickle Down! Please, hold your applause. I was hoping to have finished it by the end of May, but that turned out to be an unexpectedly difficult month in terms of health. Some of my medications got mixed up and withdrawal worsened my condition by… a lot. It’s sorted now and I’m doing way better.

It’s also Pride month! Happy Pride month to everyone, be you queer or otherwise! If you’re looking for a member of the LGBTQ+ community to help this month, I have a GoFundMe to fund my top surgery, and would very much appreciate donations and shares!

It’s also Indigenous History Month! For me, there’s no better time to read up more on the Mohawk tribe my grandmother was part of, and to recommend ‘Sacred Song of the Hermit Thrush: A Mohawk Story’ by Tehanetorens and illustrated by David Kanietakeron Fadden. Even if you’re not a parent, it’s a beautiful story for kids and adults alike.

I’m psyched for so many things this month. I’ve been obsessing over my child’s birthday party at the end of the month – she’s turning five – and spending a lot of time clearing out the backyard, including tearing down a play structure that was a bit of a death trap. We’re going to be visited by some exotic animals, there’s gonna be a sno cone machine, I’ve got face paint and craftable party hats… It’s going to be awesome.

I also have my top surgery consult on the 13th, where I’ll find out exactly how much I should be raising ($4000 is the minimum according to Google, yikes) and when it’ll be.

And, naturally, I’m excited for the last day of school. That’s been a while since I’ve thought about that, but then I’ll have loads of time to spend with my kid!

I hope all of you have a great June ahead of you!
