Just For Fun; September 4 2024

One of the reasons I love tabletop roleplaying games is that I have zero control over the story. Whether I’m running the game or playing, I only ever have theories as to what’ll happen. My job isn’t to keep track of how the beginning, middle, and end flow – I can just monitor my character(s) and be true to them.

Which is my long-winded way of saying, I have made/tweaked around 70 characters within the past couple of days because I’m a fiend who cannot be stopped once I have the creative zoomies.

I’m writing purely for my own enjoyment this autumn. Role-playing games, pet projects, short stories or poems if I get bitten by the idea bug. Reminder that I have five chapters of an original work called Casus Belli up on my Archive of Our Own page, which I hope to update at least once or twice this month! Warnings for spicy vampire content, all of which is queer. Because of course it is.

(If you’re part of my family reading this blog post, though, don’t even worry about it. Don’t read it. Not for, uh, any particular reason, I just think it’ll be… really boring, for you. But never fear, there isn’t a single smutty sentence in there.)

This also gives me time to let some of my beta readers get back to me with various books I’ve asked for feedback on! My latest project, tentatively titled What Possessed Me, got really positive responses. After only a few changes, I was able to send it off to my marvellous agent – fingers crossed that she likes it too.

Also, it was my kid’s first day of grade 1 yesterday! She had a great time, adores her teacher, and has made new friends while still keeping the old. She was nervous, having been split up from a lot of her kindergarten BFFs as they were put in different classes, but they see each other at recesses.

In short, even though we have to move out of our house this fall, I’m determined to make things fun.

Wish me luck!
