Happy 100th blog post!

This one’s late, just because I forgot Mondays existed until we were halfway done the week. Figured at that point I’d wait until the next one rolled around.

There have been a few things worth celebrating lately, from major to mundane.

-        My kid is going to be primarily living with me, officially, and it was settled without our case needing to go to court!

-        My request with Victim Services for counselling was re-evaluated and approved!

-        I recently participated in a Twitter pitch contest and got a request from an agent I admire!

-        I had a fantastic meeting with a critique group!

-        I started running a game for some wonderful friends!

-        My next novel’s outline is complete!

-        I made blondie bars for the first time!

Like I said, some weren’t major. But I still felt victorious!

I’m hoping to start my next novel sometime this month as well, and add another high point to this May!

For now, let’s have the next instalment of our story!

There had to be a town nearby, or at least a house. Maybe an inn, if they were lucky. With the river nearby, it would have been sensible to build homes by the fresh water.

Still, it took hours of wandering before the first peek of civilization loomed.

A smattering of large houses poked up from among trees. A young woman walked from door to door with pails across her shoulders, skirts swishing, oblivious to their presence behind an immense oak. There were chickens milling about in front of their coop, a child scattering seeds from their front porch.
