Here’s a fun fact about me: for many years, I didn’t believe painkillers actually did anything. I thought it was all about the placebo effect, and I just wasn’t buying into it. Which sucked, because I would have very much liked to be in less pain, please.

I could barely move most mornings, the past week. My back felt like it was on fire. It sucked, and this is increasingly common.

Sigh.

If you’re interested in my life updates: we’ve been in a sort of limbo regarding the house we’re renting. It’s been for sale for a little bit, which has meant we’ve got frequent visitors looking around the apartment with varying levels of etiquette. There’s a possibility the buyer will want the place tenant-free, so we’ve explored all moving options and think we’ve got a pretty solid back-up plan for now. Additionally, I learned that if my housing situation becomes too unstable or unlivable, I could contact Children’s Aid for temporary housing for myself and my kid.

So that’s a relief. I was admittedly panicked for a bit, but no matter the outcome, we’re going to make something work.

I’ve also been fairly burned out (partly because of aforementioned panic). I’ve written roughly 30k of my current novel, but stalled out at the end of March. My initial ambitious goal of getting it done by May is looking less and less feasible. Maybe by June?

It’s really so hard to say, at this point. Life’s gotten so intensely busy in all areas except for my career. Not sure how to remain motivated when I have so much else to do.

Speaking of which, I’m trying to get back onto my house cleaning schedule. I had all the chores mapped out by day… Yet it’s been a while since I’ve adhered to it. Whoops. That includes this blog, too! It’s on my list, I promise!

Anyway, that’s all I have to say for now. I have a bit of a rant locked and loaded for next week, so check in then!
